The marches Antoninas, they are a popular movement and of street. Such as Brazil celebrates the Carnival with the only show, Portugal has in the marches a show of unique color, where the characteristics of a people are quite present when it got used to be celebrated. As a matter of fact, well it is possible to be said that the marches are for Portugal, like the Carnival for Brazil!
Normally the march is composed for between 20 to 40 couples (man and woman) that transport a decorative arch and wear an evening dress, in accordance with the chosen subject. Besides the letter and music, equally of agreement with the chosen subject, the dances help to fill the streets with snoopers' thousands, which are applauding the marches while passing in the streets. In the top of each march they can find the standard-bearers or (childish) mascots, whereas in the rearguard there is positioned the "cavalinho" – (musicians' set) that act to the living creature and help to give big dynamic to a show really only. The subjects what the Associations and districts participants choose, are normally the Love; Popular Saints; The Sea; The flowers, professions, but also they look for inspiration in the music, in the animals, in the history and in everything what in the general affectionate form our society.
The march of the A.R.C.A. is the most ancient of the district of V.N. Famalicão and it is also the most local, with actings inside and out of the district, abroad and in the Portuguese television. What makes the march of the only A.R.C.A. it is his people, who plunged into a healthy localism, support a parade in the name of a holy patron (Saint António) who was speaking about love to near, such as Jesus Christ, there are more than two thousand years behind …
